What Does ALAW Mean? The Story Behind Our Name
If you've landed here searching "what does ALAW mean," you're probably either a Leeds fan who's heard it a hundred times on the terraces and forgotten to ask, or you're new to the club and trying to work out what half the shirts around you actually say. Either way, here's the answer.
ALAW stands for "All Leeds Aren't We"
It's one of the oldest and most recognised chants in the Leeds United songbook, sung by supporters for decades. Ask any long-time fan and they'll tell you it sits right up there with "Marching On Together" as one of the phrases that instantly identifies you as one of the club's own. If you've been to Elland Road, or even just watched highlights with the sound up, there's a good chance you've heard it without clocking exactly what the letters spelled out.
It's not a slogan a marketing team came up with. It's terrace language — something that grew out of the crowd itself, the way most of the best football chants do. That's part of why it still means something. It wasn't sold to fans; it came from them.
Why we built a brand around it
When we started this label, we didn't want to make "official" merchandise dressed up in club branding. We wanted to make something that actually came from being a fan — the in-jokes, the chants, the identity you carry around whether Leeds are top of the league or scrapping to stay up. ALAW felt like the right name because it's not really about us. It's about the thing every Leeds fan already shares.
We're a small, independent operation — not affiliated with Leeds United Football Club in any official capacity. Everything we make is fan-made, for fans, because that's genuinely what we are too.
